#TBT Question For Parents

Another good hair day in this video from circa 2011ish.  I’m influenced by the thinking of a man named Dennis Prager who challenged his listeners with the following question.

As a parent what do you want most for your child to grow up to be.  You can only choose ONE.  Which one will you choose them to be?

  1. Smart
  2. Successful
  3. Good
  4. Happy

Comment below.  And I’ll come back later and share the answer as , all these answers are “good” but one is best.

Interview: NBC’s Biggest Loser Contestant 4 of 4

This video is about pure inspiration–no hair.  Trek with me back circa 2011.  I interviewed a contestant from NBC’s Biggest Loser Season 10–Ms. Anna Wright.  She has a very inspirational story sure to encourage those struggling with obesity or any internal or physical barrier.  She proves a survivor of lots of loss and heartache. She is also multi-talented with song writing credits under her belt.  You MUST hear all of her story.  Subscribe in order to catch parts two through four posting over the next few Sundays.

P.S. Please forgive the background waterfall…it’s soothing to me but may be annoying to others. I didn’t know enough to think I needed to NOT do the interview there. But it worked out.  Again, digging in the archives and realizing, “wow, I got some pretty good content here” worth sharing.  🙂

#TBT: Curlfriends

***UPDATE*** 1/2/15

Got in touch with “da homie” D’Angela shortly after this post published and “we cool.”  (ha!) Ain’t nobody tripping off me and my political commentaries.   We reconnected on Facebook and although we don’t talk regularly (like most of my good friends) we are back in the loop and have no doubt, we will pick right back up where we left off (as I do with all my real homies) whenever life slows down enough to have the time to give undivided attention to one another.

She is still on her natural hair journey, too.  Wooo Hooo!   And, I still have her black stilettos.  I’m working hard now so as to create the life that will allow me the TIME to spend with my old and new friends and pour into their lives and be a blessing.  I’m nearing my destination of financial freedom which equals more disposable TIME to use as I please.

Enjoy the video….

This is another oldie but goodie–circa 2011 when my old roommate and friend was  embarking on the experience of returning to her natural texture.  This experiment unfortunately did not last with she and I.  I have some of the footage of us trying things out but it didn’t turn out well enough where either of us was comfy publishing it.  I also lost touch with her–again, also.  I can’t find her on FB–plus, I’ve change my page a couple of times since this taping also–it’s a wonder anyone can find me.  LOL!    Truth be told, I fear my political opinions got under her skin and she ditched me.  LOL!  🙂

As she didn’t know how much of an non-Obama fan I was until reconnecting on FB and seeing some of my posts.  I don’t know that for sure, of course. We never had that convo. All I know is, I reached out and she was no longer there.   So I’m unsure if she continued the journey as I know she had some challenges shortly after recording this.

Regardless, I miss her and really enjoyed having her back in my life that brief period of time.  She is such a delight.   I like how we were vibing as we reconnected in this video.  It was like old times–she makes me laugh.  LOL at her advice to wives–“moo moo scarves.”   I just love her feminine energy.  She’s a great Godly mom and wife!  In spite of all the question marks I just expressed (keeping it real) around our lost relationship,  I published this because 1)  to show how much of an advocate I’ve been for natural hair amid all my friends and family and to show how that can bring women together–even if for a short time.  And 2) we both look cute.    he he he……#imissmyfriend  #whereareyouDeAngela?  #Istillgotyourblackstilettos  LOL!

Pre-pooing & Henna Circa 2010

This is an oldie but goodie.  I’ve enhanced my regimen like 20K times since this video.  I’m a regimen junkie.  🙂  I did this video for one of the Facebook groups I’m a part of called Coo-Coo for Naturals.  Shout out to De’Andrea–Body by Vi Challenge Enthusiast.

Good review of old things that work.  Henna and pre-pooing are still staples in my conditioning although, I don’t do henna as much due to labor of it.  Last henna I did was about 3 months ago and I was not all that happy with the results.  But, I’m more consistent than I give myself credit for–on second thought.   Anywho, may this will be useful to somebody.

#TBT: Grown Woman Swag

Another oldie but goodie–#Throwback Thursday because…….

My face is “beat” and My Hair Is Laid Like… Rufus & Chaka Khan-Diana Ross-Donna Summer 1970s- “Tell Me Something Good”:)  LOL!

Okay, it’s circa 2011ish. This video is again about nothing really.  Just me enjoying and feeling myself a bit.  Celebrating me for a change.   I had to record this memory– one of my best moments of affirming love toward myself.  It was a good hair day, too and why I post–somebody cue Ice Cube circa 1993.  #can’tlovemyneighborifIdon’tlovemyself 🙂  #allaboutdatexture

Meriam Ibrahim

Imagine living in a country  where it’s against the law to marry a person of a different faith? A country whose officials, carrying out the law, would imprison a pregnant woman, make her give birth in prison all because she believed in a God her government didn’t approve and married a Christian man?

This is one of the many reasons I’m so passionate and verbose about politics and the strategic erosion of our freedom , in America, by progressive ideologies that are either rooted or akin to ideas that lead to this kind of dictatorial regime.  Please pray and use what freedom of speech you have left in America to speak out for Meriam Ibrahim.  I pray God move in an undeniable way so that all watching will know how HE feels about this kind of wicked injustice.   Thank you Senator Cruz.

#TBT Are You Okay Remaining Single?

Another oldie but goodie circa 2010-11ish. The initial audience for this video was a group of Christian women.  The name was later changed from what I mentioned in the video–by the way.  It was a robust group and discussion at the time.  I’ve changed FB pages so many times, I got lost in the sauce and is unsure if it’s still going on.  Anywho,  I post because it was another “good hair day” for me as this page is all about the texture.

I also post because I thought the subject matter was still relevant to ALL women and may spark some new discussion. So although old….the content is still very timely.  So how do you feel about what I’m asking in this video? What is your take on being married or NOT at whatever point you are in your life now?  Comment  below or on the blog itself–let’s chop it up.
